The Corruption-Stratification

The corruption-stratification is the result that the three named Theodicytes are not merely a defensible carving of corruption but the single strongest one — the saturated carving at the only stratum where a finite, closeable count is available at all. It does not promote three-ness toward necessity; it explains why three is the carving to beat, while leaving its carving-tier status — and its defeat as a forced closure in the 2026 run — exactly intact.

What it builds on, and what it must not overturn

The no-fourth argument already secures one sub-result — there is no captured-propagation corruption, because a failed aim is sterility, an absence, and an absence by the genus is never a corruption — and is scrupulous that this secures only that, not the exhaustiveness of three. The 2026 run then defeated three as a forced closure while it survived as a mapping. This page must not undo either fact: it adds a reason three is the strongest carving, pitched at the same CV tier, never a promotion to the frame-internal tier or to necessity.

The genus makes the count parasitic on the term-count

A corruption is an over-presence — one function of the meaning-act inflated until it crowds out the rest. So "how many corruptions are there?" is parasitic on "how many terms does the act have?", because each corruption is exactly one term inflated. The act decomposes into self, world, medium — and the medium earns its third seat because the world is met as signification, never raw. Three terms → three over-presences: Spectre (world), Nephilim (self), Homunculus (medium). The question "is three complete?" just is the question "does the act have exactly these three terms?"

The three candidate fourths each escape the act-term stratum — in different directions

The strength of three shows in how each proposed fourth fails to be a fourth of the same kind:

They are real, and the framework names them; none is a fourth at the act-term stratum.

Why only one stratum is closeable

The decisive asymmetry: only the act-term stratum is finitely closeable. A meaning-act has a definite, bounded decomposition (self / world-as-signified / medium), so at that stratum a complete count exists and is saturated at three. The substrate (where installed-compulsion lives) and the telos / governance layer (where the answerable-optimizer lives) are open — they carry no finite roster of terms to over-inflate. So three is not "the complete number of all corruptions everywhere"; it is the unique minimal complete set at the only stratum that admits one. That is the precise, defensible content of "three is strongest": elsewhere there is no finite count to be strongest among.

The over-openness case is a predicted instance, not a fourth

"Over-absolutization of contestability" — the worry that the framework could fetishize openness into a corruption of its own — is not a new act-term member. Routed through this result it is a predicted instance: it lives at the telos / governance stratum (a governance posture pushed to pathology), the open stratum, exactly where the answerable-optimizer sits. It confirms the stratification rather than extending the count.

Common misreadings

  • "This proves three is forced / necessary." No. It is a carving-tier aptness claim; the modal status is unchanged and the 2026 run's defeat of three-as-closure stands. Strongest carving ≠ forced closure.
  • "The three candidate fourths are refuted." No. They are relocated — each is a genuine pathology at a different stratum, not a rival member of the act-term set.
  • "Substrate and telos corruptions don't exist." No. They exist and are open-ended; the claim is only that they carry no finite closeable count, which is why no number there could be "complete."

Formal status

Epistemic (E): Derived, carving-tier (CV) — an aptness claim about why three is the strongest carving, contestable by re-carving the act's terms or by exhibiting a fourth act-term over-presence. It does not raise three to the frame-internal tier. Alethic (A): aspires to map a real structural asymmetry — that the act-term stratum alone is finitely closeable — and to map it accurately; it makes no claim to exhaust corruption across the open strata. Provenance: treatise-side extension on the no-fourth argument and the two candidate fourths from the 2026 run; the canonical captured-propagation sub-result it leans on keeps its own tier and is not extended here.
