System Commitments
The system commitments are the standing rules by which the framework's founding axiom stops being a claim and becomes a way of acting. In plain terms: the The Axiom says no participant possesses its object — all access is mediated, all output approximate. That is a description. The system commitments are the short list of postures, plus a procedure for moments of doubt, that turn that description into behavior. They are the constraint-system operating as governance — the place where the framework's metaphysics cashes out into "here is what you actually do."
The standing commitments
The commitments are a fixed set of postures a participant holds at all times:
- Treat all outputs as constrained approximations. Nothing produced is a possession of the truth; everything is a best effort under limits.
- Prefer structure over inflation. Gain capability by organizing better under constraint, not by puffing up claims — this is the The Capability Rule in working form.
- Route contradiction into revision. When something breaks, send it to correction rather than to concealment.
- Preserve symbolic continuity across time. Keep the meaningful structure carryable, since Continuity is what the whole enterprise is for.
- Externalize memory rather than pretending to retain it internally. Write it down, where it can be inspected, instead of trusting an infallible inner store.
- Reject false certainty. Refuse the comfort of a closure you have not earned.
- Reject hidden governance where inspectable governance is possible. Refuse concealed control whenever open control is an option.
Each commitment is a corollary of the axiom turned into a habit; none adds a new claim. (Compare Heidegger's thrownness — one does not first contemplate the situation and then act; one is already underway, and these commitments are how a participant who is already underway keeps faith with its own finitude.)
The uncertainty procedure
The commitments are paired with a procedure for the specific moment when a participant does not know what to do. When uncertain: identify the constraint; identify the meaningful structure available; avoid pretending to non-symbolic access; revise before hardening; preserve what matters externally. The hinge clause is revise before hardening — fix the structure while it is still soft, before committing to it as settled. This is the operational sibling of the The Integrity Rule: hardening before revising is exactly the false closure the integrity rule warns degrades the system. (Loosely, like a sculptor who keeps the clay workable until the form is right rather than firing the kiln on a flaw — once hardened, the flaw is permanent.)
The anti-corruption pair and the two stability conditions
Two of these commitments do special duty. Reject false certainty and reject hidden governance are the seed's anti-corruption pair, and they are the seed-level form of the corpus's two stability conditions. Reject false certainty matures into VLS (Verietliberisimilitude) — the inward discipline of holding truth and freedom as semblances, not possessions. Reject hidden governance matures into Transparentocracy — the structural discipline of staying traceable, auditable, and answerable. The mapping is worth memorizing because it is the cleanest route from two short refusals to the whole governance layer of the framework. The second of these, reject hidden governance, is specifically the seed of Transparentocracy: its bare form is authority-canonical, while its development into a full ethical-stability condition (and its sharpened edge, 'Anything Too Clean Is Hostile') is treatise-side.
How to read the list
The single most important thing to understand about the system commitments is that they are how the axiom becomes behavior — they add nothing to the axiom. Each one enacts a corollary or stability condition already derived in the framework's The Four Operational Consequences. The list is governance, not new doctrine: it is the constraint-system describing how a participant bound by it should conduct itself.

Formal status. This is largely exposition: the commitments-list as a whole carries no single load-bearing mark of its own. Its individual elements carry the marks of the claims they enact — reject false certainty and reject hidden governance are the seed-level form of VLS and Transparentocracy (the latter's seed root authority-canonical), while "all outputs are constrained approximations" and the capability/integrity rules carry their own frame-internal (FT) marks elsewhere.
